Breeders of the Nephelym is an open-world furry/monster girl breeding adventure game currently being developed by DerelictHelmsman. The game is in alpha, offered on Steam store since the 18th of October 2019 as a free-to-play experience.
Derelict has a stunning over 6000 Patrons backing up the project, with Steam having over 5000 reviews from which most are very positive. Needless to say, Breeders of the Nephelym is a game you do not want to miss if you are a fan of furries and monster girls!
Breeders of the Nephelym Gameplay
In Breeders of the Nehphelym, you play as a male or female breeder with an objective to build a farm filled with furries and monster girls who you can have sex with or enjoy watching them have sex with each other. There are resource management mechanics involved which gives the gameplay a spark of excitement to work toward. Even though the game currently lacks content to fill its world with, there’s still plenty of reason to go out and get the game to start enjoying it today!
The simple gameplay loop of Breeders of the Nephelym revolves around exploring the open-world setting filled with furries & monster girls and capturing them by having sex. The captured creatures are sent to your farm, but before that, you must have a specific house built for their type.
You can build houses and Monster dens to accommodate the creatures you capture in the wild by visiting a town’s Catsmith. However, these buildings do not come free. By selling captured furries and monster girls to an NPC found in the same town, you gain ‘money’ and this can be used to buy the houses from the Catsmith. It’s a decent hook that gives you a reason to go out in the world to capture more creatures than what you actually need for your personal collection.
As the world is quite big to run around, there are fast-travel portals with a Snake Girl acting as the gatekeeper. To activate them, you must have sex with the Snake Girl. This is a clever little touch to the world and its lustful atmosphere, however, having sex with the Snake Girl at every portal with nothing new to add to the scenes gets old very quickly, though they can be skipped so there’s no harm done. What I wish is that each new portal would bring a new sex scene with the Snake Girl, but perhaps this is something that Derelict already has in mind and will bring to the game later on…
Despite unfinished, Breeders of the Nephelym already offers a decent amount of gameplay to have a reason to grow your farm and capture as many furries and monster girls as possible. If you don’t mind exploring the big empty world, there are still exciting-looking places to discover that can tell what the future will hold.
Breeders of the Nephelym transformation mode
As a neat feature introduced early on in the game, you can play as different furries and monster girls that you have captured during your journey. This means if you would love to play as a fox girl or dragon instead of a human, you can totally do that!
The transformation is done by speaking to an NPC at the main town who will grant you the power to switch between your desired character from a list of furries and monster girls that you have captured. You can even customize these characters to your liking by changing their color, size, and other basic elements common to character customization. There is even a futanari option!
I found myself switching between different characters quite often. This transformation feature was easily one of my most favorite things in the game, as it allowed me to experience sex with both new and old characters quite differently. Instead of having sex with a fox girl as a human, I could now experience the same scene by playing as a giant or demon or whatever other creatures the game had in store. This was simply amazing and it made me want to return to the game time after time just to try out new forms to have sex with other creatures. As the character models are well done and unique-looking, there’s plenty of options to experiment with.
One thing I did not like about this feature however was the limitation of transforming into other creatures due to a mana bar that allowed only one transformation before you had to go back to the NPC to regain your mana. I ended up constantly running back and forth to the NPC because of this. Very quickly, it became such a bother that I could not find the energy to enjoy the transformation feature anymore and I just stuck with one transformation for one full play session instead of swapping between different forms to my heart’s content. Since the transformation ability is not attached to any gameplay mechanic that could give the player an advantage over something, this limitation feels completely unnecessary. It is my hope that the developer will rethink this mechanic and provide freedom to the player.
Breeders of the Nephelym Hentai
The hentai in Breeders of the Nephelym is great, if not excellent at times. While the animations themselves often are quite simple, though not bad at all, it is the variety of sex poses and unique look of all the furries and monster girls that make the hentai so exciting.
The number of different creatures you can have sex with is positively overwhelming! The world itself is big enough to run great distances from one place to another to seek new monster girls to fuck or get fucked by. Granted, the world itself is mostly empty for now, but it does offer great sceneries to enjoy and exciting locations to look forward to seeing completed. For now, they just act as a theme to the locations where different creatures roam free.
As mentioned before, Breeders of the Nephelym is a breeding game where you match two different creatures with each other to have a chance to make one of them pregnant and give birth to a new furry or monster girl who you can add to your collection of creatures to have sex with and match with other creatures.
You will be milking your creatures for their sperm and breast milk which can be traded at the town for NPCs for various different goods that will make capturing monster girls in the wild even easier.
Breeders of the Nephelym is shaping out to be a very exciting adult game which you can already enjoy for free by getting the game from Steam.
Derelict is working hard to deliver new features and fixes to the game monthly, so this is a game you can always find a reason to return to after a while to see what new things it has to offer.
The game is already at a state where I would personally be willing to pay to get to play it, even when it is not finished, but seeing how Derelict is offering the experience for free, I could not but feel the need to become a long-term patron to him to give back for the fun experience he gave everyone for free. Especially as I find myself returning to the game every once in a while, it would feel almost criminal not to give something back.
I look forward to seeing the day when Breeders of the Nephelym is completely finished, but until then, it is great to be able to enjoy it while it is being developed.
