Senren Banka is an erotic visual novel developed and published by Yuzusoft, which was released on Steam on September 28, 2017. The game is set in a rural village where the protagonist, a high school student, finds himself becoming involved with the local shrine maiden and other unique female characters.

To mark Yuzusoft’s 10th anniversary, Senren Banka was released and it received recognition for its exceptional art, music, and characters, receiving multiple awards in the year of its release in Japan. The game was a runner-up at the 2016 Moe Game Awards and earned the top spot in Getchu’s 2016 Bishoujo Game Awards.

Story

“Deep in the mountains lies Hoori, a small village so remote that no trains stop there. Due to its isolation, it has resisted the spread of civilization. However, its rustic charm and hot springs have transformed it into a famous tourist destination.

One of the village’s biggest draws is the divine blade murasamemaru, stuck in a stone from which no one has been able to pull it out off… until our protagonist arichi masaomi manages to break it in half.

Before he can even come to grips with what just happened, he’s forced to make amends for what he’s done.

How, you might ask? By marrying the village’s shrine maiden, of course!

He’s already in way over his head, but this is just the start of his mysterious and unfathomable new life in this village.

Masaomi then goes on to meet his new fiancee, discovers an enigmatic and strange girl that only he can touch, and begins to learn about the curse afflicting the village of Hoori.

Amidst this hectic new life, who will he set his heart on? The answer he seeks lies within the legendary sword in his hands.”

Gameplay

The gameplay of Senren Banka is primarily focused on reading through the story and making choices that affect its outcome, in other words, the game features multiple endings. The player can choose to pursue a romantic relationship with several female characters. Additionally, there are also choices that, while not affecting the ending, offer comedic relief.

The game features beautiful artwork and fully voiced characters, which add to the immersive experience of the game. The characters are unique and have their own distinct personalities, thus allowing players to easily find their favorites among them.
